cvIt definitely takes more time to write a custom CV, but, it's worth the effort, especially when applying for jobs that are a good match for your skills and experience.

WHY?
Employers have very little time, particularly in the current market with the large number of candidates applying for each job. To get ahead of the game, you need to sit down with the job description and pick out the key points they’re looking for and highlight these in your CV.
This should include your achievements, personality attributes and previous work experience. It will not only demonstrate that you’re able to do the job, but it will also make it easier for the employer to find the relevant information. This will also be emphasised by a focussed covering letter.

Choose an Appropriate Curriculum Vitae Format
Make sure you choose a curriculum vitae format that is appropriate for the position you are applying for. If you are applying for a fellowship, for example, you won't need to include the personal information that may be included in an international CV.

Have Several Versions of Your CV
Don't just write one CV and use it for every position you apply for. Have targeted and focused versions of your curriculum vitae and use them accordingly.
